reservations for 8:15pm and we were sat at 8:27pm, not a big deal since hostesses told us they were still figuring things out after only being opened for 5 wks and diners seemed to enjoy hanging out past the 2 hour mark. Took our waiter over 10 minutes to come to our table after we sat down, and throughout the visit, we waited on service and/or had to get staff attention more than we were waited on. Very disappointing. Also, our waiter had really bad breath that made it difficult to stomach the interactions we had. We spent more time here than expected because service was extremely slow for an establishment of this size. We love dinning out a few times a month and looked forward to trying this new addition to the bull city, which was explained to us to be an elevated take on Korean food from the owners of M Sushi restaurants. We started with the Fried chicken (which I saw was accidentally taken to another table and then brought over to ours). I would usually ask for something fresh that has not been sat down at another table for others to talk over but we quickly discovered that wait times to be seated had nothing to do with guests wanting to hang out but from extremely long wait

Loved our first time in M Hansik. I enjoy most M Restaurants, but this one quickly rose to the top. I may be biased, but great Korean restaurants with a diverse enough menu are hard to come by outside bigger cities in the US, so you've got to appreciate it when you find one! Excited that this restaurant is now finding a home in Durham and showcasing a menu with a balance of traditionality and modern dining ❤️

We were looking for something different and this place definitely was. The service and atmosphere was excellent. The presentation was good and the atmosphere is perfect for a date night. The food was interesting and had unique flavor. The lasagna was definitely worth trying. We thought the chicken seasoning was overbearing. The bulgogi was different than I have ever had. The flavor was great but I was dissatisfied with the portion of protein for the price. ($49) The bulgogi was very thin and lasted maybe 5 bites. But overall everything was flavorful and unique!

Had the pleasure of trying the newly opened M Hansik, the latest from the M restaurant collection — elevated Korean fine dining that still stays true to its roots. You could tell they put a lot of thought into the decor and the presentation, from the space itself to the plating of every dish. All the food was delicious, but the standouts to me were the fried chicken, the bokeum bap paella, and a phenomenal black sesame ice cream. Highly recommend. 🇰🇷

Definitely very unique for a Korean restaurant. Drinks, starters, entrees, and dessert were all enjoyable. Not sure why they have sake and not soju though. Definitely don’t skip on the fried chicken or kimchi dumplings. The paella and lasagne were great but could be executed much better. Pork belly and Wagyu shabu shabu was amazing. I’ve been to several of the M restaurants, this one is up on the list. Service and ambiance was great, the place was a bit hard to find from the outside though.
